What is the Morning After Pill?
The Morning After Pill is an emergency contraception used after unprotected sex.
The pill is a safe and effective form of emergency contraception that can help prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure (a broken condom). It is essential to understand that the Morning After Pill is not intended for regular birth control and should only be used in emergencies.
It works to delay or prevent ovulation & won’t affect fertility later on.
Emergency contraception should be taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex, but it can be effective up to 72 hours (three days) after the incident. However, it is more effective if taken right away. Using the pill now to prevent pregnancy will not affect your ability to get pregnant in the future.
